My 3Pics

.: By: Jason Surguine :: Device used: E-125 :: April 5, 2001 :.

First off, I guess I better insert that this "game" is a Healthware/CharityWare application. Otherwise, someone will be upset.

I’ll keep this short. This game is supposed to emulate the classic game of ‘Paper, Rock, Scissors’. If you don’t know the game, you either live in a hole, or you are from a VERY distant land. If you are reading this review, and you honestly don’t know what Paper, Rock, Scissors is (how do you know what a Pocket PC is?), feel free to look it up on the Internet, and then come back to this review.

Graphically, this game is terrible. There are four colors total, three "pics" that are supposed to be paper, rock, or scissors that look like a white box, a gray circle, and a pair of black maracas. It’s on a bland off-green background with pink boxes in the middle.

There is no sound, period.

I wish I could say something about the gameplay, but I can’t. There isn’t any. You’d think in a game of Paper, Rock, Scissors, you would at least be able to choose your Paper, Rock, or Scissors.

No, you can’t (unless I’m missing something and I just can’t figure it out, in that case, the limited menu options that are available are not user friendly enough) you just tap on a button that says play and it randomly generates an object for the computer and one for you. What fun is that? It’s not. There’s also another button on the screen that says, "new set". I assume that it is supposed to start a new set (best random wins out of ten), but it doesn’t do anything.

Overall, this game is a joke and should not have been programmed as an actual "game" to be downloaded. While I appreciate J. Diebold’s cause, I would rather just give my money straight to a charity than download this game and then give my money to a charity, just because of a piece of junk game. In fact, this almost deters some people from donating to charity after playing a game like this.

These are the types of "games" that are making the Pocket PC look bad and slowing down any kind of progress in the advancement of the quality of games for the Pocket PC. Diebold, please, instead of releasing 30 bad games, take the time to program and develop just 1 good game. Everyone (including yourself) will be much happier that way.

Being Charitable:

  • Good cause.

On the rocks:

  • Not really a game.

  • Too many others to list.
