Pocket Millionaire: Downloads
For a new installation, download: pm.zip (2.2 MB)
This will install version 1.2. To upgrade from version 1.0 or 1.1, see below for details. To customise your game, see the Themes section.
To install Pocket Millionaire on your Pocket PC, unzip pm.zip to a location of your choice on your desktop PC. Please consult the included Readme.txt file before installing.
To start the installation, connect your Pocket PC device and run Setup.exe.

Many thanks to Bernhard G. Keller for a German translation of the game. To install the German version, download and install the English-language version by following the instructions above.
Once the game is installed, download pocket millionaire.vb (German-language version) and copy it across to the folder where you installed the game. You should be asked whether to overwrite the existing file - answer yes in order to replace the English-language version with the German-language version.
N.B. I haven't had a chance to test this yet, so I would appreciate it if someone could confirm to me that this actually works! Thanks!
To upgrade from version 1.0 or 1.1 to version 1.2, download: pocket millionaire.vb (145 Kb)
This upgrade is intended for those have version 1.0 or 1.1 of the game already installed on their device. If you haven't, see above.
To upgrade your copy, ensure that the game is not running. Then, using the Explore option in ActiveSync, copy across pocket millionaire.vb from your computer to the folder on your device where the game is installed. You should choose "Yes" when asked if you want to replace the existing file.
By default, this folder is \Program Files\Pocket Millionaire (remember that Explore starts by default in \My Documents, so you will need to first click on My Pocket PC).
The major improvement in version 1.2 is that the limit on the number of questions the game can read (previously 200) has been removed. Also, there are a number of bug fixes and small improvements.
Please note that due to a bug in the Application Install Wizard in Microsoft's eMbedded Visual Basic application, removing the game using the "Remove Programs" utility may mean that any other VB applications on your device will no longer run.
If this problem affects you, you can download and install the appropriate runtime files for your device (link to Handango product pages):

Alternatively, you can use VBRegFix, a small freeware application courtesy of Ralph Brown.
The game images and sounds can be customised as you wish. If you create a theme that you think deserves a wider audience, please zip it up and send it to me! I'll make it available to download, and you will of course be credited.
To install a theme, simply unzip it and copy all the files to the folder on your Pocket PC where the game is installed (\Program Files\Pocket Millionaire by default). If asked to overwrite any files, choose "Yes" (or "Yes to all").

Replacement theme (161 Kb), by Madwych: Includes some of the original logos and sounds from the TV series.

Scott Luchetti has written a free Question Writer application which allows you to easily write question files for the game.

This file contains the source code for the game, which was written in eMbedded Visual Basic. If you would like to convert the game into a proper eVC++ application, please go right ahead!
Please note that the image and sound files are not included in the source code zipfile. To use them, you should copy them from the folder on your Pocket PC where the game is installed (\Program Files\Pocket Millionaire by default).
